A new beginning

Cooper recently started kindergarten and I found myself sad but yet happy for him. He has grown up so much in the last year and is ready to be a big boy. What does being a big boy all entail? Let me show you from Cooper's perspective:

--Brushing your own teeth if all you do is really eat the toothpaste

--Dressing yourself and pretending its taking a long time when really all you are doing is dancing around in your underwear for a few minutes

--Taking care of feeding and watering the dogs when really you are squirting them with the garden hose and throwing their food on the ground seeing if they can catch any of it.

--Making your bed when really you are quickly trying to hide all the crumbs from last nights cookies you snuck into your room and ate long after you should have been asleep.

--Showing how well you can climb on the monkey bars when really you are showing off for a girl, miss one and fall and land on your elbow. Resulting in your arm being in a sling for the weekend.

--Helping set the table when really you are plotting the best way to tick your sister off by setting daddys' place setting right next to you when really it was your sisters turn to sit by him. (not sure of the reason for arguing between the two of them on this one!!)

--Showing how well you play by yourself in the backyard when really you are hoping that mom doesn't come out of the house and catch you trying to hoist the dog up into a tree with a jump rope you tied around her waist. (yes I caught him doing this)

--The very best part of being a big boy is hearing mom tell you that she still loves you when you don't know if she realizes all the things you do behind her back or if she realizes it and still can't resist your big brown eyes!!!

All alone.....

This weekend the kids are going to spend the WHOLE weekend with Craig's parents. Craig is going to meet them in Brookings for supper and then the kids will go home with his parents. So what are we going to do this weekend? We are going to organize the basement, go to Craig's company picnic, have a date night Saturday night, and relax around the house on Sunday. Its alos a weekend where we don't have much of anything going on (rare for the way the summer has been) and can just enjoy each others company again.

Its so easy to loose your connection with your spouse when you are running kids here and there, busy schedules, house projects, and just over all busyness. I can't wait to have some time to just hang out with Craig again. I have forgotten what that is like!!!

The kids are SUPER EXCITED to go! My in-laws are wonderful people and have been planning things to do since the beginning of July! They are so cute! I'm glad the kids have grandparents that love to hang out with them. I never really had that growing up. So I am blessed to have both sides that love to have the kids. Plus it gives Craig and I a nice break! I will miss the kids but I know they are in good hands and will be having a blast!

A thing of the past?

You know what never ceases to amaze me? Fads. Yes.....I am a victim of multiple fads. From the 80's I loved Michael Jackson and was jealous of my aunt who had a red leather coat and sequined glove, to the wild crazy hair. The 90's were full of rolled up jeans, wavy hair with BIG bangs that you curled under and then ratted the snot out of them. I was always trying to fit in and still find myself doing the same thing. Lets face it......we don't want to see ourselves on the show "What Not to Wear" now do we?

So where am I going with this post? Good question. Do any of you find that blogging is becoming just a fad that is starting to fade out? I find many blogs that I used to read that haven't been updated since November of last year and I know I have been guilty of not posting very often. A part of me is thinking about closing down my blog and printing all my posts and putting them in a book. Yet, I hate to shut something down that I enjoyed for so long. I am just finding it too hard to find time to post and upload pictures. I will let you all of you(if anyone is even still reading this) know what I decide before I just shut it down.
